New Moon and Chinese New Year: Long Snake Moan

It’s the New Moon inaugurating

The Year of the Snake.

The element of water dominates our psyches. Nearly every planet is answering back to Mars in Pisces for the next 40 days.

Our dreams and visions have never been more powerful.

If we fail to channel the mystical energy of Pisces towards the higher octaves such as music, dance, spirit, vision, inspiration, dreams, imagery, compassion, subtle body energies etc. we may fall prey to paranoia, victim mentality or negative projections. We have to be so mindful of the stories we tell ourselves and the scripts we are running during this time.

Join Sherene and Katelan this Saturday to welcome the Snake, and to discuss/process/ritualize the current Aquarian-Pisces waters. These dynamic energies are intermingling and pushing us to truly own and live our vision and our long-term “everything we want to do” before we die dreams.

Bring your Journals.

We will be focusing on:

Dream Symbols and Jungian Active Imagination

Meditations with the Star, Chariot, Moon and Death Cards

Independence leading to interdependence

Friendship and Love

The Romantic Myth

Detachment leading to greater attachment

Death as a Teacher in the Time of Saturn in Scorpio

image

With Saturn and North Node in Scorpio the archetype of Death is very much around us. This can be a time of heavy depression and emotional lashing out. It can also be a very healing time as we are learning to slow down and not take life or loved ones for granted.

Saturn in Scorpio asks us if we are trying to control the relationships around us instead of having faith in them. Saturn in Libra gave us a sense of intimacy by spending time together, doing activities, being close and feeling  that sense of “puppy love”. We searched for balance sometimes giving up much of ourselves. But Saturn is Scorpio tells us that these can be illusions. Relationships don’t always start off with a bang. You may not want to be together all the time. Saturn in Scorpio shatters the illusions around relationships, introducing us to piercing intimacy. During this time control issues and fear of rejection can really rear their ugly heads.  It’s important in this time of transformation to let go and have faith that things will come together. The more you try to control someone or a situation, the less control you actually have. This is also a good time to really deal with addictions whether substance or behavioral.

image

With the Full Moon in Leo coming Jan 26/27 think of both the Death Card and Strength archetypes. This is a fantastic time to shed control issues, negative patterns and addictions. Let this Full moon be your honey and heal your wounds.

Very recently the brother to a good friend lost his wife. When death comes in physical form it can really put reality in your face. Are we taking life and our loved ones for granted? Have we been tricking ourselves into delusions of importance and neglecting those around us? What is the quality of the lives we are living? Are we hurting others in selfish motives or are we just hurting ourselves?

My friend Sheryl, an awesome medium and reader sent me this link today. Santisima Muerte is a beautiful saint that I have worked with for years. Her offerings are roses, tequila, cigarettes, and chocolates. She teaches us not only about the death cycle but the importance of life, living it, and loving as openly as you can even in the face of rejection and hurt.

Saturn is in Scorpio until 2015. Embrace Death and all her gifts and learn to live. She is our greatest ally and friend.

Full Moon In Cancer: Stormy Weather

“Life is strife and torment, disappointment and love and sacrifice, golden sunsets and black storms.”

— Sir Laurence Olivier

“Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray.”

— Lord Byron

"Storms make trees take deeper roots."

As 2012 reaches its final days, along comes one last emotional storm to assure that we go out with a bang. Consider the full Moon in Cancer on December 28 one of great catharsis and emotional clearing to make way for 2013. Think back to issues that began last July and you can expect any feelings or hurts that were left unresolved to rear their head once again demanding our attention.

In fact, all of the emotional issues triggered by the many Uranus-Pluto squares throughout 2012 are reaching a fever pitch under the auspices of this full Moon in Cancer. This Moon squares Uranus in Aries (a hotheaded influence) and opposes Pluto in Capricorn (ancient bone-level rage) creating what’s known as a T-square in astrology with the missing leg of the cardinal cross being Libra.

The key to navigating the choppy waters of this emotional storm is to cling to peace, balance, harmony and compromise — by all means. Saturn in Scorpio is supporting this full Moon, so the other survival tip would be to go deep into your feelings rather than reacting defensively in the moment.

Sit still with even the most turbulent of emotions. If you can be present with what is difficult, you can successfully ride the waves of this stormy influence. If you allow yourself to fly off the handle in an emotional fit of rage, you could create great damage to yourself and your relationships under this tumultuous influence. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are sure to feel this lunation the most, so take care to gently attend to your feelings without taking them out on others. This is a tremendous opportunity to let go of all of the hurts and emotional grievances of 2012 — once and for all.

With my original Halloween plans destroyed by hurricane Sandy and a pleasant surprise of a house guest, I decided to stay in this Halloween. I generally don’t like the parades. They’re too crowded and unless you’re willing to get there early (I’m not) you can’t see anything. Seems like every…

Dear beautiful internet,
I was going to post this image for my birthday with a request that you take action against the wolf cull in the Canadian tar sands. However, as I went to update my links and text I discovered that some great progress has very recently been made.
It does not seem that the wolf killings will be completely stopped, but it appears they will be greatly reduced. I am cautiously optimistic as I watch to see how the details will be implemented. Meanwhile, I need to take some time to pull in more information and figure out what steps to focus on next. I hope that you will join me in whatever that will be.
This issue is not yet resolved, but this is a step in the right direction and it’s lovely news to receive in the few hours leading up to my birthday. Thanks so much to all of you who spread the word.
Love,
Veronika

New Moon in Libra: Balance from the Inside Out

New Moon in Libra: Balance from the Inside Out

By Sherene Schostak

We’re all seeking that special person who is right for us. But if you’ve been through enough relationships, you begin to suspect there’s no right person, just different flavors of wrong.

Why is this? Because you yourself are wrong in some way, and you seek out partners who are wrong in some complementary way. But it takes a lot of living to grow fully into your own wrongness. And it isn’t until you finally run up against your deepest demons, your unsolvable problems — the ones that make you truly who you are — that you’re ready to find a lifelong mate. Only then do you finally know what you’re looking for. You’re looking for the wrong person. But not just any wrong person: the right wrong person — someone you lovingly gaze upon and think, “This is the problem I want to have.” I will find that special person who is wrong for me in just the right way. Let your scars fall in love.

Libra rules relationships, partnerships and our constant quest to find some kind of balance within the topsy-turvy world of dating, mating and relating. The change we want to see in our relationships starts within, and the new Moon on October 15 has come to remind us that we need to turn the mirror back on ourselves and own all of the stuff we’ve been laying on others — all of our complaints, disappointments, criticisms, gripes, etc. Are we the change we wish to see in the other? Just the same, we don’t want to fall into codependent patterns of taking on our partner’s unprocessed childhood issues and blame ourselves.

“To each his own” is a very healing motto for this new Moon, but meant in the “to each, own their psychological issues” instead of dumping it on the nearest target. This can be a romantic partner, coworker, family member or even pet. The point is to look within for whatever feels wrong out there.

Luckily, this new Moon is full of sweetness and light. If all has felt out of sorts with the intense Scorpio energy of the past few weeks, the new Moon in Libra has come to rebalance us from the inside out. Look to where you have lost equilibrium and ask yourself how you can strive for a more beautiful and temperate middle ground. Libra is the sign of peace, harmony and all things lovely. We are invited during this new Moon to plant the necessary seeds in order to bring more beauty and balance and less drama and discord.

The new Moon in Libra inspires us to consider the other’s point of view with patience, understanding and tolerance. These are the keys of Libra’s strength in sweetening our relationships. It is also about doing what is fair and what is right. Our ability to adapt, adjust and accommodate also serves us well during this new Moon. Try applying this awesome triple-A formula to bring more harmony to existing relationships.

La Gitana

La Gitana

Your hair was full of roses in the dewfall as we danced,
The sorceress enchanting and the paladin entranced,
In the starlight as we wove us in a web of silk and steel
Immemorial as the marble in the halls of Boabdil,
In the pleasuance of the roses with the fountains and the yews
Where the snowy Sierra soothed us with the breezes and the dews!
In the starlight as we trembled from a laugh to a caress,
And the God came warm upon us in our pagan allegresse.
Was the Baile de la Bona too seductive? Did you feel
Through the silence and the softness all the tension of the steel?
For your hair was full of roses, and my flesh was full of thorns,
And the midnight came upon us worth a million crazy morns.
Ah! my Gipsy, my Gitana, my Saliya! were you fain
For the dance to turn to earnest? - O the sunny land of Spain!
My Gitana, my Saliya! more delicious than a dove!
With your hair aflame with roses and your lips alight with love!
Shall I see you, shall I kiss you once again? I wander far
From the sunny land of summer to the icy Polar Star.
I shall find you, I shall have you! I am coming back again
From the filth and fog to seek you in the sunny land of Spain.
I shall find you, my Gitana, my Saliya! as of old
With your hair aflame with roses and your body gay with gold.
I shall find you, I shall have you, in the summer and the south
With our passion in your body and our love upon your mouth -
With our wonder and our worship be the world aflame anew!
My Gitana, my Saliya! I am coming back to you!

Full Moon in Aries

Aries Full Moon

By Sherene Schostak

“The world is lit to pop and nobody is gonna stop … here we go!”

 —Perry Farrell (Aries)

On Saturday, September 29, the Full Moon in Aries could be one of the most explosive lunations of the year as it stands right on the precipice of many incendiary factors. For one thing, the Uranus-Pluto square becomes activated by this full Moon, setting off the urgent need for cataclysmic breakthrough. Can you maintain your integrity while shedding layers of the false self? The ego adores status quo and would prefer nothing to change but alas Uranus in Aries demands a shake-up of any structures that no longer support the authentic Self. Mars, the ruler of Aries, is incredibly strong at the moment in Scorpio, which makes our determination to break through stagnation, denial and repression a do-or-die situation. The time is right now. It is a time for action. We are feeling the dire need to change and let go of what no longer serves the authentic “I am” self — even if it kills us (or before it does).

If that isn’t enough of edge: Saturn is about to change signs next week after spending two-and-a-half years in the opposite sign of this full Moon (Libra). The cosmic taskmaster will be moving into the same sign as Mars: Scorpio. So again, the theme of letting go, shedding skin and killing the killers in our lives becomes extremely pronounced.

Aries (Mars) is about bringing out the big guns and taking no prisoners. Don’t ever ask an Aries or person with heavy Mars in their chart to wait patiently. You get the idea: this full Moon is screaming at us to wake up and stand our ground. If we’ve been too nice and people-pleasing (Libra) at the expense of honoring our true self, this full Moon will light the fire needed to burn that nonsense down to the ground.

“Go where you are celebrated, not where you are tolerated.”—(Unknown)

Why would you waste time on situations, jobs or relationships where you feel completely misunderstood, undervalued and unappreciated? Life is too short to try to cram a round peg into a square hole. Afraid of being seen as selfish? Get over it and declare who you really are before it’s too late — so demands the Aries full Moon. Stop worrying about what anyone else thinks because Uranus is also in Aries, raising the stakes to be authentic, present and immediate in our relationship to life’s challenges and changes. Of course this requires us to first know who we are so take time during this ridiculously intense influence to come back to Self and get clear on who you are and where you stand. Does your life truly accommodate the person you are becoming?
